US GDP Per Capita by State

In all 50 states, Massachusetts had the highest gross domestic product (GDP) for 2019, at $ 75,258. Mississippi had the lowest real GDP, at 35,015 US dollars.

What is real GDP?
The country’s real GDP is a measure of the value of goods and services produced by the economy and prepared for inflation. The country’s real GDP helps economists to see the health of the country’s economy and its quality of life. A slowdown in GDP growth could reflect financial difficulties, such as the 2008 and 2009 financial crisis, when U.S. GDP declined by 2.5 percent.

Why the GDP of an individual is important?
The actual GDP per person takes the GDP of a country, province, or metropolitan area and divides it by population. Some argue that the individual’s GDP is more important than the country’s GDP, as it is a good indication of whether the country’s population is rich or not, thus raising the standard of living in the area.
